- Introduction
Stam DKS are arguably the best overall dps in the game (aoe & single target combined), and have the potential to outdps even a Magicka DK, with the new buffs, sets and champion point changes, here’s my stam dk build for the Thieves Guild patch!
- Race:
At the moment i am a Redguard, although this patch the Khajiit crit passive wich was previously not working has been fixed, so i would highly recommend going Khajiit if possible, it is by far the best, i will remain Redguard untill race changes comes around however, as it is the 2nd preferred choice, Dark elf is the third best choice, wich is nice if you already have a magicka dragonknight dunmer and want to try out stamina you can do that perfectly fine.
- Attributes:
Put everything into Stamina, you will have plenty of HP for this setup.
- Mundus Stone:
If you are not using Twice-Born Star go with The Shadow, if you are using it, go with The Shadow and The Thief
- Armour:
For this guide, i will post the “BIS (Best In Slot)” items for this build, i would HIGHLY recommend farming these exact traits and items, although if you have bad luck (like me) and end up with a crappy trait on your monster set, it’s no big deal, but keep farming!
- For Trials:
Head: Mephala, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Shoulders: Mephala, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Chestplate: Twice-Born Star, (Heavy Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Hands: Twice-Born Star, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Waist: Twice-Born Star, (Light Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Legs: Twice-Born Star, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Feet: Twice-Born Star, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Necklace: Agility, (Robust, Maximum Weapon Damage Enchantment).
Ring #1: Agility, (Robust, Maximum Weapon Damage Enchantment).
Ring #2: Agility, (Robust, Maximum Weapon Damage Enchantment).
Note:
For boss fights, Alkosh jewelry will be better, but nobody will have a full set of this for the first many months of the patch.
- For Veteran Dungeons:
Head: Mephala, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Shoulders: Mephala, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Chestplate: Hundings Rage, (Heavy Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Hands: Hundings Rage, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Waist: Hundings Rage, (Light Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Legs: Hundings Rage, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Feet: Hundings Rage, (Medium Armor, Divines, Stamina Enchantment).
Necklace: Agility, (Robust, Maximum Weapon Damage Enchantment).
Ring #1: Agility, (Robust, Maximum Weapon Damage Enchantment).
Ring #2: Agility, (Robust, Maximum Weapon Damage Enchantment).
- 7/7 Medium or 5M, 1L, 1H?
I recommend going 5M 1L, 1H if you have full undaunted passives, if you are missing it, partially or fully, go full medium for the added crit chance.
- Weapons:
- Bar #1 (Main DPS bar): x1 Maelstroms Dagger in Precise, x1 Maelstroms Axe in Precise. The reason for not going 2 axes is that it’s bugged currently, and you will not get a higher chance then 8% to proc a bleed on a one-handed axe, so a second one would be completely useless, the reason for not going 2 daggers is the bleed from the axe is amazing! Plus, it gets affected by the 3k weapon damage bonus from your Cruel Flurry procs.
Note: If you don’t have maelstrom one-handed weapons yet i strongly urge you to farm them! There is not a single set piece that has this much effect on a setups dps as these items, no doubt one of the most powerfull pieces of gear out there.
- Bar #2 (Backup Buff bar): x1 Maelstroms Bow in Precise, You will use a bow for the extra dots Sorched Earth and Poison Injection, the bonus damage added to Scorched Earth from the bow is a very nice bonus.
- Skill Bars:
- Bar #1 (Main DPS Bar):

1) Rapid Strikes – Your Bread and Butter DPS skill, casting this will increase the damage of your next single target DoT by over 3k weapon damage, it’s also a really strong single target ability, i’ve seen hits go for upto 20k on mantikora, and upto 23k on daedric mobs.
2) Unstable Flame – One of the most powerfull DoTs in the game, the fact that it’s increased by 3k weapon damage after a rapid strike makes it completely ridicilous, i’ve seen hits for upto 17k on the serpent after only a couple of runs.
3) Steel Tornado – Your main AoE skill, by far the most powerfull aoe skill in the game, nothing else to be said, you all know it.
4) Rending Slashes – Another great DoT that just becomes even better with the Maelstrom weapons, the damage is also increased on targets lower then 25% from your dual wield passives.
5) Flames of Oblivion – Mainly slotted for the passive 10% critical chance, check the Rotation segment further down to see how i use it in fights.
6) Flawless Dawnbreaker – Amazing passive weapon damage boost, that’s all, never cast this.
- Bar #2 (Backup / Buff Bar):

1) Molten Arnaments – CRAZY buff for this skill in the Thieves Guild update! 40% Heavy attack damage for 40(!) Seconds! It’s an amazing skill as you will be using fully charged heavy attacks with dual wield.
2) Sorched Earth – This dot is so powerfull! It will always be one of your top 5 DPS sources in your damage stats, the reason we go with the scorched morph and not the other one is that Scorched Earth is affected by your “World In Flame” passive (Increase damage of flame based AoE effects by 6%)
3) Poison Injection – Another buff from the Thieves Guild update, your champion points into Mighty will now affect poison damage, so basicly Poison Injection will be about 20% stronger, great for certain bossfights where you go ranged for a few seconds, especially in Maw of Lorkhaj.
4) Rearming Trap – 12% Crit damage for 12 seconds, plus a very decent damage tick, and a huge dot on Daedras, i prefer the rearming morph as i dont feel the need to have more range with the other one, although it’s completely optional and upto you wich morph to choose, regardless, Trap beast FTW ;).
5) Anti-Cavalry Caltrops – A decent aoe damage over time, cast it once, and you will get 2k dps for 35 seconds, its as simple as that, absolutely worth casting it once every 35 seconds.
- Rotation:
This REALLY depends on the fight, you kind of have to get a feel for it, you can’t really just copypaste the rotation, you have to practice the idea, and get a feel for it, so you can adjust accordingly in bossfights (especially in Maw of Lorkhaj).
Start off by activating flames of oblivion and molten arnaments, apply your ground dots (scorched earth, anti-cavalry caltrops), switch bars, fully charged heavy attack, rapid strikes, unstable flame, fully charged heavy attack, rapid strikes, rending slashes, flames of oblivion (animation cancel it by swapping bars very quickly), switch bars, scorched earth, poison injection, switch bars, fully charged heavy attack, rapid strikes, unstable flame, etc, every 35 seconds while applying scorched earth refresh caltrops and molten arnaments.
- Champion Points:
