****Currently being edited and tested for different gear, bare with me while uploading content and information, thanks****

Welcome to the “Born Again Templar” tank build, this is a mini guide/build outline for Stamina Templar tanking in Trials. Please feel free to ask any questions or give comments, even while im updating the build.

Intro:

Some Time ago i posted up looking for ideas on what to do with my v16 Nord Templar, i knew i wanted to tank, i thought i wanted to heal.  I kept thinking and thinking about what i wanted to do, My poor nord started out as a stam dps, then got switched to a magicka tank, then again switched to complete magicka heals, then he sat.  and sat.  and sat.  and i continued to play my nightblade, and my sorcerer, and the templar sat some more.  Finally i got determined to make something out of him, i tossed it with some people in game and decided to turn the nord into a Trials Tank!  my first thought was to return to magicka based tanking so i could offer some group synergy with some extra HOT’s like ritual.  the more i thought about it the less it made sense, so i started thinking about what i could do with a stamina build.  i did some google-ing, some foundry-ing, i even browsed in the officials a little.  There is almost no information on stamina templar tanking, sure there are some ideas and people asking how to do it, and others respond with my dk runs this so you should run this etc, there were a couple outdated builds, but nothing remotely current for a stamina templar tank that could hold its own in trials and do it well. This build has completed ALL pre TG endgame content and is proving itself in vMoL, without boring people with a read, here is my rendition of how to do it:

Race:

Imperial is bar none the best race for this build, but do not let racials scare you, i do this with a nord, arguably the worst race next to argonians. Upon closer looks Nords actually synergize extremely well with the templar passives for tanking, so i would actually recommend it as a very close second to Imperial. Any race will work just fine though.

Skills:

This is the loadout im currently using for Vet Maw of Lorkhaj, and it works stellar. the idea behind the stamina templar tank that i have is to add to group dps and be mostly self sufficient on resources because the group i play with splits alot on the new trial. i never run dry of resources, and my regen numbers for magicka and stamina are below 1k. I accomplish this by being the only person in group that runs Repentance, i use every single add around me for regen during aoe pulls, for single target fights i chug cheap stam pots (because tri pots are for p*ssies. just kidding they are just not needed for this build) whenever they are up and only need an occasional shard.

Bar 1- Structured Entropy, Pierce Armor, Restoring Focus, Blazing Shield, Power of the Light, ULT-Aggressive Horn

Bar 2- Structured Entropy, Inner Fire (unmorphed), Shielded Assault, Biting Jabs, Repentance, ULT-Solar Prison

Rotation is very simple:

Warhorn when you are supposed to and Nova only if your group absolutely needs a backup mitigation.

Front bar – run in, taunt, restoring focus, power of the light, structured entropy, repeat as things need reapplied. watch your PotL tick for 20k+, its not uncommon for me to do over 5k dps if i remember to keep PotL up all the time. when and if your armor shatterd keep up blazing shield. if there are adds, swap bars when appropriate and use repentance.

Back bar – for aoe i charge the closest add, taunt the importants, and spam biting jabs, using repentance as things die. Block when you need to, if your stationary with a big add(s) (ie:banners in vMOL) i tend to stay on bar one, and only swap to use repentance.

Quick little addin for Gold Key tanking – This can completely be done on bar 2, you simply play as a heavy armor dps with a taunt, sure it does not put out op numbers but they are not bad for not switching armor or mundus. i put Power of the Light in slot 3 for single target and i consistently get 10k+ dps in single target fights just by keeping PotL up and spamming jabs while holding taunt, i only block to prevent knockbacks and one shots.

Additional Info:

Most of the information would lead you to believe that you need to cap resists, you should, and when i gold my armor and max my cp i expect i will be very close if not there, but you dont have to, you just need to get close.  By running repentance healers are able to clear up a spot on their bar and run more utility for the group, i find stamina templar tanking to be AWESOME! resource management is a cake walk, im very rarely out of stamina, the only time it has happened and been slightly scary was during the large 5 wave add pull before boss 2 in vMoL, and that was rectified quickly when i realized that i forgot to barswap for repentance on dead adds, and it solved it quickly before it was a fatal mistake! The issue i have with this build currently is i have no reliable self heal that does not require either a healer, or a dead add. i need to unlock vigor and this build will be stupid good.
