Build Theory/Purpose: I wanted to create something that could just nuke at range but still had the survivability to charge in and do some 1vX aoe damage if need be.
Race: Breton, Altmer, anything with magicka passives – I went with Breton.
Stats: 54 Magicka, 10 Health, 0 Stamina
Mundus: Atronach
Armor Types: 5 Light, 2 Heavy (go with 5/1/1 if you have undaunted passives)
Weapon Bars: 1 hand and shield, Dual Wield (2 pieces on each bar for set bonuses)
Armor Sets:
5 piece Julianos (299 spell damage – 1367 spell crit – 967 max magicka)
4 piece Magnus (129 magicka recovery – 967 max magicka – 129 spell damage)
3 piece Willpower (rings and neck) – (1451 max magicka – 193 spell damage)
Enchants and Traits: Reinforced on the 2 heavy pieces and shield, Impen on at least 3 of the light, Divines on rest, Nirnhoned on weapons; Primastic Enchants, increase spell damage on the rings and neck.
Primary Damage Bar (Dual Wield):
Dark Flare, Radiant Oppression, Aurora Javelin, Channeled Focus, Structured Entropy, Ult: Devouring Swarm/Ice Comet
“Defensive” Bar (1h/s):
Puncturing Sweep, Toppling Charge, Proximity Detonation, Honor the Dead, Purifying Ritual, Ult: Devouring Swarm
Reasons for Skills:
On the Dual Wield bar I took Dark Flare as my main ranged DPS with radiant oppression for executes. The Aurora Javelin is for keeping Aedric passives up and also for providing a hard CC at range. Structured Entropy for the health and Empower. Channeled Focus for the magicka battery. Swarms is just awesome but could switch for Ice Comet for a big burst.
On the shield bar I took puncturing sweeps for my close in damage with a heal, Toppling Charge for a CC that gives me time to get to work at close range with the stun, Proximity Det will be cast before the charge so I should get some good Proxy Burst + Sweep spam damage combos. Honor the Dead and Purifying Ritual for heals and cleanse (especially need the cleanse as a Vamp with all the fire damage dots). Devouring swarms can be comboed with proxy det and puncturing sweeps for big aoe damage bursts.
The overall strategy of this Build is to nuke solo people at range and if able execute them before closing in. However, should you run into a 1vX the proxy,swarm,sweeps combo should keep you up while doing some great burst aoe damage. The sweeps and swarm should keep you up for a while, but when the swarm wears off dodge roll out and heal up and trigger proxy again.
I am newer to Templars as I was primarily playing as a DK but from my experience so far the above build should do very well. If you have any comments, suggestions, etc…. please leave some feedback. I’d like to fit Mists in somewhere but don’t know if anything would be worth dropping.
