Hey, Lyudorashi here. Will try to keep it short (EDIT: i failed).
I’m one of the older ESO players, mainly aimed for high-end PVE content and a current member of Well-Fitted DC-EU.
I have completed both SO in its v1.5 glory and vMoL as both tank and DD.
I was doing a lot of theory-crafting in my free time for myself and others, and now i made a product, which many of you, fellow theorycrafters can find a good use for.
Lyudorashi Equivalent DPS Spreadsheet for ESO (link)
What it can do:
- Calculate Equivalent DPS from your raw stat data, including stuff like magicka/SpellDamage % passives, customs spellDamage ration for the light attacks, static DPS, raid buffs, Kena, SPC, War Horn with mixed uptime and other.
- Answer to questions like: “How does 129 Spell Damage compares to 3,14% crit and 967 magicka?”, “TBS or Julianos?”, “Sharpened or Precise?”, “unslotting 7% magicka from inner light, how much DPS will I lose?” etc
What it cant do:
- Calculate DPS right from raw data (it can only compare EDPS of two sets, but if you have DPS parse with one set then it will say estimiate your DPS with other set)
- Compare two different rotations (doing that is pretty hard and inaccurate)
- Teach you how to talk to girls
How does it work:
It takes your base stats of your certain full spec’s spellDamage, magicka, crit chance and damage, passive raid and self buffs and their variable uptime. It uses formulas, made by me and various theorycrafters(mainly Asayre, huge props), to calculate Equivalent DPS of that build.
You can than make new build or raid buff setup and compare EDPS of those two.
Or you can make lots of simple calculations by writing simple build modification into testing field, to see %DPS difference of those modifications.
How to use it:
It is not easy to use, its aimed mainly for theorycrafters, for the first time, especially if you are not savvy with Excel. It could take you up to 30 minutes to get your numbers right.
v1.6 Spreadsheet already has spherical dunmer mageknight Kena+TBS build in vacuum. You can use it for basic calculations right from the bat. In Testing Field you can already see that for that build small set bonuses rating goes SpellDamage > Crit Chance > Magicka, that if you switch to Julianos you will gain 0,25% DPS, and your magelight passive gives only 2,5% DPS on your main bar.
Download spreadsheet and open in your Excel redactor.
Select either stamina or magicka by placing either “1” for stamina or “0” for magicka. (forward on i will always say “magicka” or “spellDamage” or “SPD”(short of spell damage), but it is the same for stamina)
If the tooltip says “Y/N(1/0)” means you have to put 1 if you have that buff, 0 if you don’t have.
Put down your magicka value with food, with all magicka passives, BUT NO WARHORN.
Put down your SPD value with Dawnbreaker/Fighter’s guild passives/Sorc passives/medium armor passives(meaning just your normal value from character sheet), BUT WITHOUT MAJOR AND MINOR SPELLPOWER.
Put down your crit chance value with major crit chance, BUT WITHOUT MINOR CRIT CHANCE.
(I did it in such a way that you don’t have to selfbuff yourself as much as possible)
Proceed to write down your magicka/spelldamage passives, i hope it is self-explanatory.
“Extra percentage” is for the cases i didn’t include like sets which give %bonus to magicka.
Crit damage fields should be self-explanatory (don’t tell me that you don’t use rearming trap, please)
Pick one race with “1” and leave others at “0” (you don’t want double bonuses). So far spreadsheet only supports %magicka bonuses from races, you will have to add %damage bonuses yourself if you truly think it is needed(calculations will work without it anyways).
For raid buffs and misc you can leave it as is, numbers are the %uptime. (i mainly took those from last boss in vMoL)
Please do not touch static DPS field if you don’t know what you do.
Put down your DPS of your best parse for current build (or just leave some arguable 25-35k number, it only matters for static DPS and wont have huge effect in overall spreadsheet performance)
Put down if you use MSA destro staff or MSA DW+BOW and if you use MSA destro, then put down your amount of LA per second(take your DPS parse, divide amount of LA by total fight length), it will calculate your % static DPS
(for MSA DW+BOW i use fixed number for static DPS which i estimated from parses of fellow stam users, if you want to suggest a way to calculate it more accurately feel free to suggest)
Hurrah, its done now! Probably…
Now you can either save your EDPS number to compare it with future build, or use the testing field to calculate simple stuff, its already prefilled with most simple questions about builds.
Stuff i didn’t do yet(mostly cause I’m lazy and don’t think it is worth it):
Calculate armor penetration (500 penetration is ~1% DPS, i do some side napkin calculations to find proper number and add it in the end)
Calculate % damage from race passive (again, i just add them after i see difference in EDPS)
Find a proper way to calculate static DPS for MSA DW+BOW (i dont do stam DPS yet)
Write a wall off text explaining all the formulas i use, i think I’m going to do it one day, but you can look up into formulas in excel to dip into my thought process already.
Have fun with it, i guess.
