So I’m returning to the game after more than a year (I left just before IC dropped) and am enjoying theorycrafting with all the new sets! My main is a DK tank, and I’m looking for some fun, very conservative builds to help me survive some of the harder content (holy crapped did they ever buff Vet Darkshade II!!!). Before I spend and farm however, looking for some feedback!
The purpose of this build is raw sustain. There are many ways to do sustain, but this is something I haven’t seen on forums yet.
Stats:
My stats are split 31 health / 34 stam since I tend to put on Stam DPS gear for normal dungeons since I can tank all non DLC normal dungeons in DPS gear with no healer.
I have 285 CP:
Warrior is mostly Hardy and Elemental Resist, a few points in Spell Shield and Quick Recovery
Thief is mostly warlord and mooncalf, a handful of points into block cost and bashing
Mage is mostly piercing and mighty (see above), with some blessed and elemental expert
Not a perfect tanking layout, but as I still run normal dungeons for a while yet to farm gear, I need some DPS as well. I’ll respect it if I ever move back to trials / hard vet dungeon tanking and need to.
Mundus:
Lady unless at caps, at which point Lord
Gear:
Head / Shoulders: Engine Guardian, Heavy (I have crap traits, obviously ideal would be divines on shoulders, infused or divines head)
Chest / Legs / Boots / Gloves / Belt: Plague Doctor, ideally Reinforced / infused chest, infused legs, divines the rest
Jewelry / Sword / Shield: Bone Pirates Tatters, ideally reinforced shield defending weapon.
All health enchants on armor, jewelry is yet more Magicka / Stamina Regen. Weapons are absorb Stamina.
Skills:
Bar 1, Bosses: Burning Embers, Pierce, Hardened Armor, Vigor, Igneous Weapons or Igneous Shield depending on group – Ultimate: Magma Shell
Bar 2, Group: Unrelenting Grip, Inner Rage, Green Dragon Blood, Choking Talons, Draw Essence – Ultimate: Ferocious Leap
The basic idea is that with some max level drink plus engine guardian regen of all types will be very crazy. The normal detriment to this for a tank is insufficient health and stamina, which is more than made up for by plague doctor and the bonus from tatters. I will do basically 0 DPS, but I should be able to keep all my buffs up, as well as block / heal / roll to my hearts content with this setup, and still have a pretty huge pile of health. If Engine Guardian proves complete overkill (which it probably is), it can easily be replaced with Chudan / Lord Warden (if I’m not at caps) or Tremorscale to add a little DPS.
Any feedback welcome!
