Guys, I am lost! Sorry if this seems to be another How-Do-I thread that shouldve been searched in the forums but at this point I barely know what question to even ask… I just started playing ESO again after so long I cant remember why i quit in the first place but its starting to come bak to me.

FIRST OFF, and this both confuses and aggravates me.. My buddy is level 22 and has armor he looted higher than i can create! I focused on blacksmithing. level 50, everything unlocked, minimum 5 traits for everything.. If i crafted a random basic cuirass at any station with VOIDSTEEL its armor shows 2400.. At level champion 90.. HES LEVEL 22 AND HAS THE SAME IF NOT BETTER!! Am i reading this wrong or reading too much into it?? What am I not understanding here? Shouldnt my armor/weapon damage be stronger?
Long story short.. I dont play PVP because i get WREKT!! I mainly play the story.. 1-50 was kind of a breeze, as in never needing potions or health regen, with a few tough bosses.. After 50, bosses got tougher and i started equipping health potions.. I still do pretty well. I can take a beating and widdle away at bosses but it takes time. Obviously the mobs level as I do but it almost feels as if theyre getting stronger and im not. One thing for sure is any boss with Magic and im in for a fight. I cant touch most area bosses around the map.. I have to wait for other players to show up and then jump in the mix.
I dont do magic much.. never did.. not opposed to it, its just blades and heavy armor was always my go to thing.. But after getting ripped by what appeared to be a level 30 F-ing Roman Candle with spells shooting everywhere and bouncing around like a coked out rabbit..Im just LOST!! Are my stats too out of balance? Did i focus too much on health/stamina? Do i need to rely more on potions/food? Do i need to redistribute my attributes? Or do I need to start over and just build a magic spewing sorcerer?
Sorry for the long post but theres so many things i dont understand I hardly know what to ask. Im not asking to be level 561 so i can stand around the fountain at daggerfall and prey on guys like me.. I just want the game to be more enjoyable and seem like ive accomplished something more than just shinier armor.. And possibly compete in cyrodiil. Thanks in advance for any help guys..
