I’ve always enjoyed playing the Templar Paladin, tank and off-healer, but with update 1.7 and the IC I’m having trouble finding any builds which work. Obviously, being IC, it needs to be both PvE and PvP capable.
I have a theory for a build, just a basic shell really, but I need the wisdom of the people here. I don’t have the ability to install/test on the PTS nor the resources to create/play it myself yet but I’m curious if this is a goal worth heading towards.
I’ve not seen any builds out there utilizing the new Armor Master line. I’m not sure why. It’s the basis for this build. Also, this is only using crafted equipment as I don’t have any resources in game to purchase/find the really good stuff. Please keep that in mind while critiquing as I’m sure it could be a lot better with the uber high end stuff.
The concept is to hard cap your damage mitigation on both physical and spell damage while still doing good enough damage to be viable PvP.
Race: Imperial for health and stamina buffs.
Stats: All in stamina.
Mundus: The warrior for weapon damage (as criticals won’t be high enough to effectively utilize the Shadow).
Food: Health/Stamina.
Weapons: 1H/S, 2H
Armor: 7 heavy.
– 5 pieces Armor Master (Divine’s)
– 3/4 pieces Night Mother’s Gaze (Divine’s)
Jewelry: Reduce Feat Cost
Enchantments: +Health on all
Skills: (All relevant passives taken)
1H/S: (Tanking)
– Pierce Armor – Taunt/debuff.
– Purifying Ritual – Remove debuffs/self-heal.
– Elusive Mist – Shield wall/oh-crap retreat, vampire benefits.
– Immovable Brute – Armor Master synergy.
– Repentance – Passive regen, stamina gain.
– Empowering Sweep – Tanking, Aedric Spear passives.
2H: (Damage)
– Critical Rush – Gap closer.
– Executioner – Finisher
– Biting Jabs – Regular damage dealer, Aedric Spear passives.
– Immovable Brute – Armor Master synergy.
– Repentance – Passive regen, stamina gain.
– Flawless Dawnbreaker – Weapon damage.
I’m sure you can imagine how the play would go. Try to keep Immovable up as much as possible, which will give around +12k phys/spell resist. That plus the heavy armor should come close to hard capping it. Tanking bar tanks, damage bar does damage, etc.
Please give me as many thoughts as possible as I can’t test it myself and it’s going to be expensive enough to build that I really can’t afford to respec out of it if it doesn’t work.
Thanks!
