Intro:

Hey guys, here is a pet based magicka stacking build I’ve been using to great success since 1.6 dropped, and now it has gotten a (stupid) big buff in 2.1. It’s a high end pve build and has some self-sustain but performs best with the SUPPORT OF A GOOD HEALER. It revolves around overload because overload is like shooting trains out of your hands. It’s named Kitty Zap after my friend Kitty Nap who always sent me necropotence in the mail as a joke, and I thought it was useless. I decided to try it out one day and it worked… really well. Thanks goes to Asayre and Dymence, whom I both drew knowledge from coming up with this build.

TL:DR Late Endgame build, heavy healer reliance, overload is badass

Character Sheet:
Keep in mind that roughly 10.5 magicka = 1 spell damage, which is the premise of a magicka stacking build. If you get your percentage based increases high enough a stack of magicka on a piece becomes more worthwhile then spell damage.

The food I use is v15 blue magicka and health food.

Destro Main bar:

Overload/ DW Bar:

Keep in mind I don’t have the full benefit from the twin blade and blunt passive just yet  (cause I’m a nub), so your tooltips/spell damage might be higher.
Race:
Altmer, since it is just amazing for any sorcerer and the 10% magicka bonus becomes very important in a magicka stacking build.
Mundus:
Apprentice, so far my testing still finds it better than the mage.
Gear:
2 x Molag Kena (one medium, one heavy)

5 x Necropotence

3 x Willpower (jewellery, all arcane trait) – All three enchanted with spell power

1 x Master inferno staff (sharpened)

2 x Torugs Pact swords (sharpened)

So molag kena is amazing for overload sorcs since just using your ultimate will proc molag kena. The new willpower set gives ALOT of magicka and spell damage, and you can enchant all three with spell power and sustain yourself with the magicka from overload. Since this is an endgame build you’ll probably have a healer with drain and balls, in which case you’ll find no sustain issues. The weapons are where I’m still playing around a bit. Using the masters inferno staff means you can fit the molag kena two piece in there and the magicka is just too good to pass up. For a magicka pool greater than 40k, a two hander is better, but then it wouldn’t be a set item and you get more by going dual wield so you have that two piece torugs there.

Poor man’s gear setup:

If you don’t have access to the new shiny v16 gear yet, you can run what this build ran in 1.6 and still get good numbers.

2 x Torugs Pact (one medium, one heavy)

5 x Necropotence

2 x Cyrodiil’s Light Rings–  enchanted with spell power

1 x Necklace of any set, arcane trait – enchanted with spell power

1 x Master inferno staff (sharpened)

1 x Master’s Greatsword (sharpened)
Skill Bars:
As you can see, there are a lot of toggles in this build, and you use a pet. If you are a min maxer, you probably won’t care, and I think the pet adds an interesting dynamic. There may only be a few buttons you use on your bars but this build is fun because it brings pet management into itand overload management.  These bars are subject to change depending on the situation I’m in. This build does not run entropy and  is a potion build, so you get your spellpower buff from your potion, which means the alchemy passive is a must.

SINGLE TARGET BARS:

Overload bar:

Note that your execute is on your overload bar, so never drain your overload completely so you can still execute. This allows you to run boundless storm on main bar for more dps. Mage’s wrath will do the same dps whether it is on your overload or dw bar.

AOE BAR:

Switch frags for Impulse/ Elemental ring, whatever your group requires.

I have my impulse/crystal frags swap keybinded for fast swaps depending on the pull.

Note For the new content:

As you won’t always have a perfect group for stuff like vWGT and vICP, you can make this sorc have amazing survivability. This makes sorc, in my opinion, the most practical for these instances considering you are also ranged dps. You can switch off frags for hardened ward and never need a heal. If you need more survival the next step is to replace boundless with crit surge for the healing. If you want to be safe and cozy on something like the planar inhibitor you can run shield instead of frags, and both boundless and crit surge on off bar, and also a shield instead of execute on overload bar.
Rotation:
Potion > Thundering presence (if applicable) > Liquid Lightning > Crystal frags (on Proc) > Force pulse > medium attack > Force pulse > medium attack > Force pulse … etc.

When he is under 20%, switch to your overload bar and execute with mages wrath.

If you are going to reapply thundering presence it’s best to wait till liquid lightning has expired so you don’t have to bar swap twice (less dps loss)

Overload rotation: keep liquid lightning down and light attack (lol)

There are different ways you can manage your overload. If you are in a trials situation with a competent group, I would just dump my overload 1000 to 0 straight away, and just use it every time it’s at 300.

In the new four man content, I use it more sparingly, usually using 200-300 at a time to regen magicka and then dumping it when you hit the burn phases ( like white gold towers 30% health left on adjudicator, 25 % on planar inhibitor, and 30 % on molag kena.)
A Note on pet management:
You may think this build is easy with all the toggles, but one of the things that makes it difficult is you now have to care about two bodies instead of one. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BE AWARE OF WHERE YOUR PET IS. The worldshaper meteor in sanctum hardmode can land on your bird so make sure it’s in the stack, watch your initial positioning on the adjucator so it doesn’t die in fire, etc, etc, etc. You can control your pet with the Y key. Y with a left click make it attack the targeted mob, Y with a right click recalls your pet. If you move your character, your pet will follow if unengaged. Worst comes to worst, you can resummons it to get it in the right spot.
A Note on Molag Kena management:
First and foremost, molag kena can be procc’d in between weaves. From what I’ve seen so far, Molag kena is amazing for overload and great for AOE. You can proc it with light attack, fire ring, light attack and then fire ring the shit out of stuff for 6 seconds with liquid lightning and boundless storm. Molag kena procs automatically off overloads so that’s awesome. Single target is the only grey area. SO FAR it seems like it is worth proccing (light, force pulse, light, then normal rotation) but it’s hard to say. If you are going to do this, put a lightning spash down first then proc it, and when you have to reapply the splash, your molag kena will have run out, works well. If you are having trouble sustaining then you aren’t getting enough balls/ drain from your healer.
Champion points:
Blue:

So far I have maxed out elemental expert, put one point in spell erosion, and dumped the rest in elfborn. I also have 5 points in thaumaturge and one in staff expert.

Red:

Assign according to the content you do, for example in sanctum you want a heavy bias on hardy, for the new vet dungeons you want a lot in elemental defender. Having a good amount in both is a safe bet.

Green:

Max out your magician, then dump the rest in arcanist.
Parses:

Don’t have many parses this patch yet, but the numbers were already good last patch and this patch even better. Here is a messy mantikora we did where I got popcorn. If it was clean pretty sure you can push 25k+ .
