Medium Armour DK Tank for PvE

Hi All

First post in forum here, though I have been lurking for some time.

I am currently VR14 and working my way towards becoming a strong PvE endgame tank for all PvE content. After reading several threads by mrowmrif2 I learned a lot about the balancing of armour traits. Based on some of the ideas, I have come up with the build below using Stamina instead of magicka for the DPS part of the equation. Appreciate any feedback

Play Style: I play on XBOX, so keeping buffer timers up is a bit annoying. I also find that switching bars in a big boss fight can be tricky to time (when the boss is hard hitting and I need my block up) so I prefer to have all my single “big boss” target abilities on bar 1 (including buffs to maintain). I use Bar 2 for cleaning up trash mobs and for AoE style fights. I like the 2.1 patch changes and having a large resources pool is key to me for sustain. I prefer to take the hit from mobs and let my armour (which I want to keep around 30K) suck up most hits

Here goes:

Bar 1 (1H/S):

  • Piecing Strikes (Because I need a taunt)
  • Heroic Slash (for ultimate region)
  • Igneous Shield (to trade Magicka for Stamina and help my group. I try to keep this up. Also magic dump for stem region when blocking gets tough)
  • Shuffle (the only buff I maintain)
  • Absorb Magicka or Reflective Scales (depending on situation)
  • ULT: Standard or Molten Armour, depending on situation
  • Weapons:
    • Shield, Reinforced, Seducer
    • Sword, Defending, Seducer

Bar 2 (Dual Wield)

  • Steel Tornado (the main DPS)
  • Burning Embers (for self heal, I open with this)
  • Deadly Cloak
  • Inner Rage (I dump Magicka here and try to keep the taunts going)
  • Choking Talons
  • UTL: Flawless Dawnbreaker
  • Weapons:
    • 2 x Dagger, Defending, Night Mother

Armour:

  • Shoulders/Head: Monster set (light/medium). Currently using Malubeth, as that is the only one I got so far (my guild does not run a lot of dungeons). Looking for advise on what is best here?
  • Chest: Medium, Infused, Alessia (I want armour master at VR16, but my guild does not have 9 treat medium).
  • Legs: Heavy, Infused, Alessia (as above)
  • Hands: Medium, Divines, Alessia
  • Feet: Medium, Divines, Alessia
  • Belt: Medium, Divines, Alessia (will replace with light if I can find a medium monster helmet)
  • Jewellery: (Reduce Stam Cost). 3 x footman, want to switch to Endurance at VR16 (I have only 24K health, but I think I need around 28K?)

Currently health runes on all armour. Thinking about going with Prism on all (max out resources) if I can hit 28K health with endurance jewellery

Champion Points (have 180 so far)

  • Equal into reduce magic/stam
  • All out in Steed block cost reduction (except one point in each of the other)
  • Equal on magic rege/stam regen

Mundus: The Atronach (I struggle a bit with magic regen for igneous shield)
