Stamina Dragon Knight or Magicka Templar?

I’ve spent the past couple days browsing the forums trying to decide between a Stam DK and a Magplar. I’m looking for a class to play almost exclusively, primarily as a DPS role, in both PvE and PvP, and while I’d heal in dungeons if necessary as a templar, I’d probably never want to PvE tank as a DK. (not that I expect to be forced into doing either)

I’ve read countless threads on the two classes, and by people who couldn’t decide and wanted to compare these exact two, but a lot has changed since then.

The absolute most useful thing I need to know is what I can expect gameplay-wise from each in both pve and pvp, and how I would compare in dungeons. I’ve heard templars have better aoe for example. But I don’t have a great idea of what spells and abilities, and general role I could expect while playing a typical Stam DK PvP build. I’ve got a really decent idea of the Stam DK rotation, but I’m very unclear on what exactly templars do for dps.

As far as solo content goes, I’m also uncertain about this. My Templar is only 9, but I’m really not the type to even consider having more than one main, and so I’d like to try to focus what time I have on one.

So, for the sake of making it easier to view and reply to this post, I suppose my questions are.

  1.  What does a typical StamDK dps look like in PvP?
  2. How do the two classes/specs compare at the moment? I’ve read posts on how stam is so great because of the maelstrom (spelling?) set/weapons that buff dw+dot builds. I’m curious about dps but I also mean in usefulness overall. IE aoe vs single target, utility, and ults.
  3. What does playing a magplar really consist of as far as rotations go in pve?
  4. What spec/role do dps magplars have in pvp?
  5. What would you recommend? I’m looking to do everything I can, and hundreds of hours of that will probably be essentially solo content, I’ve spent a lot of time on my DK but not nearly as much as I will eventually.
  6. Vampirism on either, thoughts? Is it a chore to maintain a reasonable stage?

If you can think of anything else to add, I’d appreciate ANY information or advice you can provide.

Race-wise I was planning on going Khajiit for dk and Breton for Templar. Though it was a tough choice between darkelf, breton, and highelf. Breton seemed like a dps loss but a more well-rounded race that didn’t lose out too much. Any thoughts on that would be greatly appreciated. I’m sorry to make another one of the countless posts that have been made here on this type of topic, but my research has just left me with quite a few gaps in my knowledge, a lot of the posts end up focusing on dks but I’ve heard fine things about templars.
